What is SherBOB?
We’ve created the Sherwood Battle of the Books (or SherBOB), to give adults the opportunity to enjoy a fun summer reading program. If you’re familiar with OBOB, you’ve got the right idea.
This team trivia challenge rewards you for reading more and remembering key details.
How does it work?
SherBOB culminates in a trivia challenge based on the books that have been selected. Your team of 3-5 members will read as many of the books as they can, to answer these questions.
You don’t need to read every book yourself, but someone on your team should have if you want to get those questions right!
The winning team will have their names engraved on a plaque and displayed in the store.
How do I sign up?
To sign up, go to Sherwood Bookstore and register! It’s okay if you don’t have a full team, our first couple meetings are perfect for finding teams to join and filling out members.
Many members of our community became friends and first met during last year’s SherBOB!
SherBOB 2026 Book List
Our reading list for SherBOB 2026 is meant to encourage you to read outside your comfort zone. All titles have been selected with feedback from our local library, are all available in paperback at our store, and should have short wait times on Libby (reserve Raising Hare sooner than later though).
Meeting 1 - June 4th 5:30pm
Our first meeting is a social event. This is your first opportunity to find teammates, assign responsibilities, and share your excitement for the different titles we will be reading.
Meeting 2 - July 2nd 5:30pm
At our second meeting you will get to catch up with your teammates. This check-in is the perfect time to see how you’re progressing as a group through your books, compare thoughts, and share notes! We will do a mini-quiz of 6 questions, one from each book, so you can see the style of questions for the final.
If you couldn’t make it to the first meeting, this is another opportunity to find a group. Having a full team of 5 can only help your chances of winning!
Meeting 3 - August 6th 5:30pm
This is the final showdown! At our final meeting teams will compete in a 30-question trivia battle, 5 questions from each book.
Our battle will take place with a full, elementary school style pizza party. Cheese and pepperoni, bags of chips, and soda! We really want to create the authentic experience.
Cant’ make all the dates? That’s fine!
Our first two meetings are mostly for players to coordinate. If you have to miss one of those first meetings it’s totally fine, you can coordinate with your teammates outside the store.
Going to miss the final? That’s fine too! You can still read along and help your friends study.
